Kickoff (Cape Town)
10 November 2008
Liberty Professionals duo Daniel Yeboah and Kofi Nti Boakye have moved to Heart of Lions as the Kpandu side boost their squad for their first forays into next season's African Champions League.
Lions finished a club high second in the Onetouch Premier League but sold a chunk of their club to European clubs.
But Victor Ahiakpor has dug into his pockets again to capture the signature of the highly sought after Yeboah and striker Boakye from Sly Tetteh's team.
Yeboah turned down the attentions of his former club Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Tema Youth to move to Lions and says the club's participation in the African Champions League next year was a key factor.
"Kotoko were interested but I did not want to go back to Kumasi," he told KickOffGhana.com. "In the end I signed with Lions because of the Champions League."
Yeboah earned high praise with the manner he stepped in effortlessly for Michael Essien in Ghana's World Cup qualifying win over Lesotho in September and is now hoping Lions will earn him a grand platform to deliver on that.
So is Kofi Nti Boakye, brother of former Black Stars striker Isaac Boakye who Lions have brought in to find them goals after allowing Emmanuel Owusu Banahene and Dominic Adiyah to live.
