Ghana: No Odense Deal for Bekoe

10 November 2008

Eric Bekoe will not be signed on by Danish League leaders Odense BK after spending more than a week there on trial.

Instead Asante Kotoko officials are expecting officials of Egyptian side Zamalek in Kumasi for negotiations after the Kotoko striker made a detour there for trials after his Denmark spell.

The best player on the domestic Ghanaian scene reluctantly packed his bag and headed to Denmark for trials but must now head to a different destination to fulfil his European club football ambitions.

That destination may not even be Europe. KickOffGhana.com understands that Egyptian side Zamalek are keen on the striker and will table a 600,000 dollar offer for the player's services.

But the failure to clinch a deal in Odense will be a bitter pill for Bekoe following a terrific season for the Porcupine Warriors.

He was linked with a move to almost every big name club but ended up turning down the offer of a trial at German side, Hertha Berlin, claiming he would rather prefer a straight deal.

He was top scorer in the Ghana League with 17 goals and scored another 10 for the same side in the CAF Confederation Cup.
