Angola: Artists, Composers Union's Managing Board Sworn in

Luanda — The new managing board of the National Union of Artists and Composers (Unac), elected last October 24, was sworn in Monday during a session held at Congresses Palace, in Luanda.

Signing the book of honour were the chairman of managing board commission, Arnaldo Calado, the vice-chairman for music, José Massano Júnior, the first secretary of general assembly table, Marcelino Franco and Tukayana da Costa, the executive secretary.

Whereas the remaining integrants of this list have not complied with this formalisation, because this mandate represents, under the decision of the members, the sequence, with some changes, of the board of the late chairperson, Alberto Teta Lando, started in 2006 and set to end by 2010.

The General Assembly Table comprises: chairman, Paixão Júnior, first secretary, Marcelino Franco, second secretary, Angelo Quental; The Directive Commission is made up of the chairman, Arnaldo Calado, vice-chairman for Theatre, António Cangombe, vice-chairperson for music, José Massano Júnior and vice-chairman for dance, Manuel Vieira Dias "Maneco".

The organisation has as its secretary-general, the artist Belmiro Carlos and Vinícios Júnior, Ricardina Rocha, Luís Massi, Tukayana da Costa, Carlos Lamartine and Zé Moreno as executive secretaries.

Also Ladislau Fernandes, chairperson, Domingos Nguizani, secretary, as well as Adelino Caracol and Ana Maria José Faria, all integrate UNAC's Fiscal Council.

At the presence of UNAC members the vice-minister of Culture Luís Kandjimbo, observed one-minute of silence in honour of Teta Lando, who died on 14 July, 2008, victim of illness.
