Angola: Ambassador on National Independence's Day

The Angolan ambassador to Egypt, Pedro Hendrick Vaal Neto, Monday said that the "November 11" is a date with historic meaning in the lives of Angolan people.

The diplomat was speaking to the Egyptian Television Station's network, NILE-TV, in Cairo city, in the light of celebrations of 33rd anniversary of the National Independence, commemorated on Tuesday.

According to the Angolan diplomat, this date brought to the Angolan people aspirations of a long struggle against the colonial Portuguese regime

Asked on the steps toward the political and socio-economic fields in Angola, Pedro Hendrick Vaal Neto, valued the Angolan people's human potential having underlined that the country has known high levels in its growth both in economic and in social well-being of its population.

The Angolan diplomat also noted that the six years of peace the country enjoys is an evidence of the will shown by the Government and the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, focussed on the accomplishment of the programmes that aimed at improving the citizens' living standards, with construction and rehabilitation of roads, among other infrastructures.

He also made reference to the Government's efforts centred on the supply of health services, fight against poverty and illiteracy, as well as the creation of new jobs.

Hendrick Vaal Neto also voiced excellent the cooperation ties between the two peoples, saying that Egypt has, for long years, been an ideal partner in training of the Angolan staff in various sectors, with stress to health, education and agriculture.
