The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has called on the federal medical team for this year's hajj work in harmony with states' medical teams while in the holy land.

The Chairman NAHCON, Muhammad Bello, gave the advice yesterday while speaking at the seminar organized for selected medical team for this year's hajj operation.

Represented by the Commissioner for Information, NAHCON, Dr. Saleh Okenwa, the Chairman said members of the medical teams should consider their appointments a favour from the Almighty Allah almighty and discharge their duties to please Him.

He also reminded the members of the medical teams that their primary assignment in the holy land is to assist pilgrims and not to perform pilgrimage. "You have to realise that you have been appointed to assist and take care of the pilgrims and not to perform the pilgrimage. You have been appointed as medical doctors, nurses, and pharmacies, you are going there essentially on a duty".

Also speaking at the seminar, the head of the federal medical team, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, who also represented the chairman medical committee for this years' hajj operation, Prof. Abdussalam Nasidi, urged the federal medical team to work as a team with those of states in the best interest of Nigerian pilgrims.

According to him, over the years there had been"disharmony between the federal and the states medical teams" .He expressed the hope that, this years' operation would be different.
