Nigeria: Obama's Victory Dividend of Credible Elections - Buhari

Kaduna — The election of Mr Barrack Obama as president of the United States was only possible in a country where there is free and fair elections and where the people's votes count, retired General Muhammadu Burhari, the presidential candidate of the All Nigerian Peoples Party(ANPP) said yesterday.

Buhari who wrote a congratulatory letter to the US president-elect Friday said Obama's election showed that democracy is the only option for good gover-nance and that it is the only process that gives people the right to pick leaders of their choice. General Buhari noted that Obama has "successfully transcended the racial, political, income and intellec-tual divides to emerge as a unifier."
