Abuja — Council for Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) yesterday appealed to the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) to work hand in hand with the CRFFN towards the establishment of a sustainable capacity development framework

.Making this appeal yesterday in Abuja, during a working visit of Council members to the Comptroller-General of NCS, Alhaji Hamman Ahmed, Chairman of CRFFN, Mr Iju Tony Nwabunike, said this will enable Nigerians to participate meaningfully and actively in freight forwarding and ensure seamless trade facilitation inwards and outwards.

Nwabunike said the recent inauguration of the Council by Minister of Transportation, Mrs Deziani Alison-Madueke, has paved the way for sanitisation of freight forwarding practice in Nigeria.

He said the Act, which has given legal backing to the Council, will check activities of "wharf rats."

Responding, Ahmed said the service was ready to cooperate with CFFN, as according to him, it doesn't have any other choice than to work with them, if the objectives of the Federal Government to clear goods within 48 hours was to be achieved.

He assured that all hands were on deck to ensure that clearance of goods is done within 48 hours, to discourage usage of neighboring countries, ports, in line with the government desire.
