Kampala — THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) political party is considering taking legal action over the NSSF land probe report.
The party may petition the Constitutional Court or the Inspector General of Government (IGG) for further investigation.
Wafula Oguttu, the FDC national spokesperson, yesterday told journalists in Kampala that the decision would depend on the advice of their lawyers.
"We do not believe the Attorney General was capable of giving a non-biased interpretation to Parliament on the Temangalo saga," he said.
During the debate in Parliament last week, Khiddu Makubuya, the Attorney General, advised that the probe committee acted outside its mandate to state that the two ministers involved in the National Social Security Fund land saga, Amama Mbabazi and Dr. Ezra Suruma, breached the Leadership Code. He said enforcement of the code was the responsibility of the IGG.
After Makubuya's interpretation, Parliament deleted from the probe report all reference to the Leadership Code.
Wafula also criticised the Workers' MPs for being silent during the debate. "The Uganda worker's union is now dead and buried," he said.
"The workers' leaders have been compromised and care more about themselves and their NRM party more than workers' interests."
Wafula insisted that the Temangalo land investigation focused on individuals and not the NRM party. He criticised the 8th Parliament, referring to it a "disgrace."
The FDC publicist also accused Edward Ssekandi, the Parliament Speaker, of being biased in his ruling.
