Ghana: Opoku Sosu-Adatsi Win Tamaklo Golf

Fantastic scores, unprecedented in recent times climaxed the 9th K.N Tamaklo memorial golf held at the Achimota golf course at the weekend.

Whilst the first four of the seven-man prize winner returned under par score of 66,67 and 68 net, Vida Sosu-Adatsi with barely one year experience on the course led four other lady prize winners to beat the course par score of 72 net.

Vida, a fashion designer playing to handicap 28 magnificent 13 under- par 59 net to win the ladies event, her first ultimate run and an improvement on her runner- up position on the last GCB-Accra open.

Sam Opoku, an Executive officer of a car-care centre similarly took the men's top prize with an equally good score of six under par 66 net with Alex Acheampong scoring 67 net, S. Toffa beat David Owen on count back, both with 68 net apiece.

Agyeman-Agyekum and Geoff Fisher, both equalling the course par score of 72 net and Dr. Paul- Owusu Baah 73 net, completed the seven prize spots.

Yaa Konadu Safo- Debrah scored 67 net, Francesca Vandyke 68 net, Misenu Amu and Joy Arkutu both with 70 net respectively, followed Vida in the ladies event.

S.K Klah 67 gross was followed by Quashie and David Doe who grossed 68 each. T.K Kodjo grossed 70 and John Dorman hit 75 gross in the professional segment.

Club captain, Bob Evans in a welcome address called for a minute's silence in memory of Kwame Nyaho Tamaklo, a past icon of Achimota club and founder of the Nyaho Medical centre.

He commended Mrs. Janet Tamaklo for her consistency in immortalizing the good works of Dr, Tamaklo, who died on November1, 2001. He said Achimota will forever remember him and the role he played in uplifting the image of the professionals game.

Dr Edem Hiadzi, Medical Director and Board member of Nyaho Medical Centre in a short tribute commended all the participants for being part of the event in honour of Dr. Tamaklo.
