It is certainly part of the prize! With exactly twenty-seven days to the December elections, the house which would house Ghana's next president is reported to be almost completed.

Information reaching the ADM reveals that the multi-million dollar state-of-the-art presidential complex may be commissioned today, Monday November 10, 2008.

Though the commissioning would be done today and ready for occupancy, a source has told ADM that the complex would be 100% complete early next year.

"For now we have completed about 70-80% of the work," the source said.

The presidential complex was reconstructed from the Flagstaff House, which served as residence for Ghana's first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. India supported the project with over US$30 million.

It is not known whether President Kufuor would move into the palace after the commissioning but three personalities who would be following the commissioning of the complex with keen interest are New Patriotic Party's presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo, National Democratic Congress' Prof. John Evans Atta Mills and Convention Peoples Party's Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, the three most credible presidential aspirants in Election '08.

The complex comprises the president's office and residence, the vice-president's office and offices for their supporting staff. It has a banquet hall and an underground water tank.

There is also a commercial building which would be used for other activities such as banking services. It is internet ready and wired up for other modern communication conveniences. Already, it has become one of the national capital's iconic architectural landmarks.
