Kampala — Uganda's legislators were not left out on the Obama euphoria sweeping across the world. Conspicuously names of most MPs in attendance, started with letter O.
From opposition leader, Ogenga Latigo, Odonga Otto, Okupa Elijah, Otafiire Kahinda, they were all there. Others adopted the Letter O, to suit the occasion. Deputy speaker Rebecca Kadaga became 'O'daga, Igeme Nabeeta became O'beta.
The greeting was Obama's Obonga (clenched fist) greeting and the Barrack Obama reggae song played a record 10 times. When the DJ went local it was Sweet Kid and Julianna's Sirina Mulala and Bobi Wine's Mazzi Mawanvu which played.
The songs were dedicated to Barrack Obama. The MPs challenged the DJ to play Jose Chameleone's Ba Yudda when Kibazanga, a sworn John McCain told of his dislike for Obama.
Kahinda Otafiire was his usual humorous self, saying he felt nothing. There was a race on who was closest to Obama among the MPs. Odonga Otto proudly waved his copy of Obama's biography: The Audacity of Hope. Kadaga was better saying Obama's closest aide is a grandson to Engineer Dhikusooka of Busoga.
