Hagaz — A cattle market center has been constructed in Hashishay, Hagaz sub-zone, and is already rendering service, according to Mr. Idris Abdalla, head of economic development in the sub-zone.
The project was implemented at an expenditure of about 500 thousand Nakfa through the collaboration of the Anseba regional administration, partners and the public. He further indicated that the local inhabitants took active participation in the undertaking.
Mr. Idris pointed out that the newly constructed market center would play a significant role in facilitating cattle marketing in the area, in addition to boosting the revenue of the area administration. Previously, the local inhabitants used to travel about 28 km to get access to cattle market facility in Hagaz. It would also provide market service to individuals from the sub-zones of Hagaz, Agordat, Mensura, Halhal and Keren, he added.
Hashishay, one of the administrative areas of Hagaz sub-zone, is inhabited by more than 4,500 people.
