Kampala — KICC secured qualification to the top cricket league after rain interrupted the hopes of rivals Patidar and Kutchimadu by washing out their Kyambogo contest and splitting the points into half.
Patidar and Kutchimadu needed to close their respective deficits of 10 and 8 points against Plate League leaders KICC to maintain any hope of claiming the sole qualification slot.
But the rain meant the points were shared, preventing either side from closing the gap to the lowest possible range whence they would hope to overtake KICC in the final round this week.
KICC have 43 points, six ahead of Kutchimadu and eight ahead of Patidar. The closest Kutchimadu can come this Sunday is one point if they win.
KICC's place in the Plate League will be taken by the Rounders, whose troubles in the Super Six over the concluding campaign have seen them finish bottom with 11 points from 10 matches.
ACC, who for a greater part of the season looked like serious relegation candidates, have rediscovered their form in the last three weeks. They proved that to the Wanderers in Entebbe over the weekend.
Junior Kwebiha took 5-18 and Daniel Strachan 5-27 to help ACC register a resounding 165 runs after posting 210 in their innings. Wanderers could only reply with 45.
