Uganda: Dobela Picks Rugby's Bad Boys

Kampala — THE uganda telecom Kobs coach Fred Mudoola has been recalled to play for the Rugby Cranes. Mudoola, who took a break this season to concentrate on coaching, is expected to boost the playing squad that embarks on early preparations for the IRB World Cup qualifier against Tunisia in June 2009.

Mudoola's return to the pitch will be subject to a disciplinary committee hearing following an incident in which the Kobs coach and his players assaulted readlocked referee Collins Mulindwa.

Victor Wadia and Steven Ogwete who were involved in the brawl during the Hima 10s quarter-final game against MTN Heathens on Sunday, are also in the squad.

Coaching director David Dobela explained that he included Mudoola, Wadia and Ogwete in his squad because they are still eligible. "Nobody has been banned yet. I could have left them out if the disciplinary committee had banned them. I will respect their decision," Dobela reasoned.

Dobela met the squad on Monday and emphasised the team needs four months of gymwork and proper nutrition.
