Luanda — Angolan minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, Monday in Luanda, appealed to all ex-football players who got a homage to act as spokespersons in the African Cup of Nations the country will host in 2010.
Speaking at the ceremony that was intended to honour the Angolan former players of the period between the 1950's and 80's, for their contribute to the development of football in Angola, minister Muandumba highlighted the head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, from among those recognised.
He considered the FC de Luanda striker as the number one of the sports ambassadors, for all he has been doing for the development of the sport in the country.
"José Eduardo dos Santos is, no doubt, the greatest ambassador of all times, so we pay him a very particular and distinct homage," he said.
Gonçalves Muandumba made a historic narration of the national football, recalling the unprecedented qualification of Angola for the world cup of Germany in 2006 and other deeds that place Angola among the 14 African countries better placed within the world context.
At the gala of the Organising Committee of the African Cup of Nations (COCAN2010), José Eduardo dos Santos was the first to take the homage, followed by other figures of the national sports like the prime minister, Paulo Kassoma (Clube Atletico de Luanda) between 1968 and 1974.
