Luanda — Angolan prime minister, António Paulo Kassoma, said Monday in Luanda that the former football stars gala is an event among sports people that will promote the image of the African Football Cup of Nations (CAN) set for January 2010 in Angola.
Speaking to Angop, after he received the homage from the CAN Organising Committee (COCAN2010), intended to recognise the contribute made by some personalities to the development of sports in Angola, Paulo Kassoma said "the initiative is welcome."
"This is a party among sports people and ambassadors who will promote the African championship in January 2010," he stated.
The homage to former Angolan football players of the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's and 1980's, served to honour as well the head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.
Also honoured were the National Assembly speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, Justino Fernandes, Eduardo Machado, Napoleão Brandão, Quim Sebas, Julião Dias, Pedro Garcia, Mário Luvambo, Rui Gomes and several others.
