Luanda — Over 3000 people, among them the Angolan youths and sports minister Gonçalves Muandumba, participated last Tuesday in a cycling competition in 4 de Fevereiro Avenue in Luanda, in the ambit of the 33rd anniversary of the national independence, marked on 11 November.
The start call of the race was made by the provincial governor of Luanda, Francisca do Espírito Santo. The competition, which had a non-profit character, was disputed in closed-circuit form and the participants rode a distance of six kilometres.
Various youths from Luanda, who were invited by the Angolan Cycling Federation (FACI), participated in the event organised by FACI and by the sports events promoting company "X-Emotions".
In a festivity environment, sports officials, politicians, among other entities joined the celebration of 11 November, in an event in which the novelty was that the bicycles were offered to the contesting riders.
Before the race, the provincial governor of Luanda offered 50 bicycles to Luanda Cycling Association (APCIL), in order to help promote this sport in the country.
