Kampala — The parliamentary committee probing the conduct of the Police yesterday quizzed another officer over the 'kiboko squad.'
The group is accused of beating up demonstrators in April last year, who were protesting a proposal by the Government to give away Mabira Forest to Mehta for sugarcane growing.
Geoffrey Musana, the regional crime chief, however, denied knowledge of the squad.
He told the committee, chaired by Peter Nyombi (Independent) that he had not assumed office by then.
Musana said the policy and advisory committee of Police appointed a team to investigate the matter on April 23, 2007.
"The investigations were completed and a report handed over to Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura (Inspector General of Police) but I do not know the details," he said. Musana added that the report had been discussed by the Force's public accounts committee.
Kampala Extra regional Police commander Edward Ochom was interrogated over the matter on Tuesday.
Ochom also denied knowledge of the squad.
Meanwhile, during the same probe, two Police officers were questioned over the incident in which Rubaga South MP Suzan Nampijja was beaten in Ndeeba Market in June, where she had gone to intervene in a wrangle.
In September, Nampijja told the committee that the Police did not protect her from the unidentified group that beat her.
