Uganda: Museveni Assures Investors of Support

Kampala — President Yoweri Museveni has assured investors of support.

He said this while meeting two groups of investors at State House in Nakasero on Tuesday.

Museveni met with a delegation from Kensington, based in the United Arab Emirates and with officials from Kucukcalik Industry based in Turkey.

Kensington entrepreneurs are involved in the mining and mineral processing, while Kucukcalik Industry deals in textiles. Museveni said the Government would provide Kucukcalik with land so as to promote the export of textiles.

"The Government is concentrating on infrastructure development particularly roads, railways and electricity which are crucial in promoting industries," a State House statement quoted the President as saying.

Kucukcalik Industry chairman Yasar Kucukcalik said the firm would also engage in energy and cement production.

He also expressed interest in setting up shopping malls in the country.

Museveni said the Government encouraged investment in mining and mineral development.

Kensington director Ashish Thakkar expressed interest in the manufacture of fertilisers and processing of ammonia and natural gas.

Vice-President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya and privatisation state minister Rukia Chekamondo attended.
