Black Africa chairman Kandas Paulino has denied that former coach Ronnie Kanalelo has made a return after attending a training session of the team this week.
Paulino told The Namibian Sport yesterday that he only "assigned Kanalelo to assist the team" ahead of the new season starting on Friday.
Kanalelo had a stint with the black-and-red outfit after he returned from South Africa where he played for South African Premier League Soccer side Mamelodi Sundown about two seasons ago.
"He (Kanalelo) is not the head coach. We are still looking for the head coach at the moment and we have spoken to some in both the premiership and first-division leagues. At the moment, we don't have a coach and we are looking for one," said Paulino.
He added that he approached former BA coaches Bobby Samaria and Smitley Engelbrecht, but both are current involved with other clubs.
Samaria put pen to paper with African Stars last Friday, while Engelbrecht, who was the coach for the side last season, is now actively involved with Unam, where he has secured a lucrative deal.
"At the moment, we have not confirmed any appointment, so we assure the fans that as soon as there are any developments in that regard, we will make an announcement," Paulino said.
When contacted yesterday, Kanalelo confirmed that he has not been offered a job at BA, saying he was "just helping out the team for a short period until someone is found".
"I am honestly just helping out.
I am offering my services and at the same time I am also building my profile as a coach.
I am not being paid for this job, because I don't have a problem with money anyway," said the former BA and Brave Warriors goal minder.
Also, Kanalelo revealed that he has parted ways with Walvis Bay-based Eleven Arrows as technical director.
He said the reason is that it was too difficult for him to work there, as he is based in Windhoek.
Asked what he would do if BA offered him the job, Kanalelo said he cannot say with certainty if he would take it.
"We will see what happens in the future, but for now, I am just helping out," he maintained.
