Angola: New Stadium for Buco Zau District

Cabinda — The district of Buco Zau, in the northern Cabinda province, has since Tuesday a new football stadium inaugurated under the celebrations of the 33rd national independence anniversary.

Estimated at around eight million dollars, the undertaking was built in four months by the "Mondo Portugal" firm, and has the capacity for 2,300 spectators.

The new stadium, with a synthetic lawn that has a five-year term, was designed based on FIFA regulations, with 105 metres long and 68 metres wide. It also has an athletics track.

At the occasion, the provincial governor of Cabinda, Aníbal Rocha, said that the complaints and desires of the population and particularly of youths of Buco Zau have been fulfilled with this undertaking.

The infrastructure results from the will of the government and of the instruction of the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, in order to grant a better and integral education, a physical strictness to youths so that they can grow and inherit the country's future.

Aníbal Rocha announced that this stadium is the starting point for other similar sports infrastructures, which will emerge soon in Belize district.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the deputy ministers of Sports and of Social Communication (media), Albino de Conceição and Miguel de Carvalho "Wadijimbi", respectively.

To mark the inauguration, a soccer match was played between the mixed team of Cabinda and that of Lower Congo. The match was won by the mixed team of Cabinda by 2-0.

This is the third lawned stadium in the province, counting with the municipal of Tafe in rehabilitation and the international of Chiazi under construction and which will host matches of the next African Cup of Nations (CAN2010).

Cabinda province also has a stadium belonging to the Lândana Club, in Cacongo district, which hosted encounters of the recently-ended tournament of access to the first division.
