Luanda — The Prime Minister, António Paulo Kassoma, Wednesday here received a message from his counterpart of Sao Tome and Principe, Joaquim Rafael Branco, in which he reaffirms the interest of the island nation in strengthening the solidarity and cooperation ties with Angola.
Speaking to press, at the end of the audience granted by the Angolan Prime Minister, António Paulo Kassoma, the minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Community of the West African island nation, Carlos Tiny, who delivered the message, added that he was also congratulated on his new post.
He said that his government defined Angola as first strategic partner of cooperation and these relations will, progressively, be reinforced.
"The historical and blood-relationship ties between the two peoples should be translated into a more dynamic cooperation and placed in a higher context", underlined the Sao Tome and Principe's Government official.
He informed that his country's Premier expressed the willing to come to Luanda, in the near future, to discuss with his local counterpart the strengthening of this cooperation, for the good of both sides.
He referred that the Angolan fuels company "Sonangol" has already affirmed itself as a partner of Sao Tome and Principe in the oil area and at the moment there are only special agreements, but in the next times they will be more concrete in the joint development zone and in a second phase, from 2010, in exclusive economic zone.
He congratulated the government on the implementation of the national reconstruction programme, adding that its success was shown by the victory of MPLA on last September 5, legislative election, in a fair and transparent way, thus demonstrating the recognition of the Angolan people to the government's efforts.
