Angola: Writer Isabel Ferreira Releases 'O Guardador De Memórias' Book

12 November 2008

Luanda — The Angolan writer, Isabel Ferreira has scheduled for Saturday 15, the release of her latest book entitled "O Guardador de Memórias (memories' keeper)", in a ceremony to take place at the Journalist Training Centre (Cefojor), in Luanda.

Speaking to ANGOP, the author said that the literary work was inspired by Angolan musicians' lyrics, and therefore it pays tribute to them and to Angolan women.

In her opinion, this is a work that uses stories of the Angolan daily life as a sort of criticism to the society, based on real facts.

Isabel Ferreira explained that the work also shows a little about the Angolan history and reinforces the "Kimbundo" vernacular language to elucidate some ideas.

Edited by "Kujizakuami" firm, the book, which is a fiction work, begins with the lyric of the song "Um assobio meu" of the musician Alberto Teta Lando, as a preface.

With 330 pages, the book was already released in Canada and in the USA and is being sold in Portugal. To writer intends to also take the book to Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe.

Born in Luanda on May 24, 1958, Isabel Ferreira has a law degree, from Angola, and another in dramaturgy from the Amadora Institute of Theatre and Cinema, in Portugal.
