Luanda — Angola intends to take lessons from the US sports potential, particularly in basketball.
This was said Thursday in Luanda by the minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, at the end of an audience he granted to the US ambassador to Angola, Dan Mozena.
Speaking to journalists, the minister said the audience served for the two officials to analyse the possibility of regular training of national sports personnel in the United States of America.
He said the meeting also discussed the possibility of seminars for national competition teams in that country, including training for Angolan youths in US academic and sports schools.
The minister said the US ambassador expressed his country's readiness to provide assistance to Angolan sports development programmes, particularly concerning basketball.
According to him, the ambassador recognised the Angolan potential in basketball, a discipline he said his country can contribute with its experience for a major development.
On the other hand, Gonçalves Muandumba and Dan Mozena analysed the possibility of a cooperation in the fight against Hiv/Aids, through a programme underway in Angola with assistance from Unicef.
