Kampala — HE might be new on the music scene, but Martin Nkoyoyo a.k.a. Yoyo is certainly not a new name in performing arts. He acted as the king in the Obsessions' most recent production, The Spirit of the Sun.
Yoyo also played a major role in the local movie, The Butterflies of Uganda.
The 28-year-old is showcasing his singing ability on Kambe Wuwo, an eight-song album that draws on a wide range of musical genres.
The opening track, Kambe Wuwo (Let Me Be Yours), is a lovers' rock about a woman playing hard to get.
Mukunzi is a soothing mellow track sung in Kinyarwanda. Mama is a collaboration with hip-hop artiste Carlos Paul.
Never Quit, which was originally done by former Coca-Cola pop star contestant, Tony Okello, is Yoyo's most exciting track.
Other tracks are Never Quit and Kamu Owawe. "I have unveiled myself in Kigali. My next mission is to have my impact felt in Uganda," Yoyo says.
