Kampala — THE Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, Uganda, has installed solar panels to provide energy for 10 poor rural families.
The families are beneficiaries of the pilot project that is to provide 100 sets of the system worth 40,000 Pounds (about sh120m) earmarked for Africa to provide energy for rural electrification.
The Association's head in Uganda, Zahid Inayatullah, told journalist at a press conference in Kampala that 10 systems had been installed in Mukono, Mbale and Iganga districts.
The panels installed by engineers from Canada and the UK, last for 25 years.
Inayatullah called upon Muslims to remain peaceful.
