Uganda: FDC Forms Bushenyi Executive

Kampala — THE Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Bushenyi on Tuesday elected the district party executive committee, but failed to get youth members.

Some of the delegates who turned up for the elections said the majority of the youth failed to get transport to Valley Inn, Bushenyi, the venue of the elections. This resulted into failure to attain the numbers required by the party constitution to elect members.

Out of 70 youth delegates from seven constituencies who were supposed to turn up, only seven made it and all of them wanted to contest the post. This resulted into disagreements and failure to elect any representative.

William Mukaira, the district party chairman elect, said it was unfortunate that the youth could not make a compromise.

"Such people, who cannot sacrifice are the ones who betray the party because they are bribed," Mukaira said.

He said the NRM wouldn't be defeating FDC in the district if there was cohesion among members.

Elected were; Godfrey Mugisha as vice-chairman, Paul Kahiigi, secretary general and Odo Tayebwa, publicity secretary.

Jenipher Neema was elected the women's representative and Eliab Kanyamuhanga, representative for the elderly.

Mukaira appealed to delegates to campaign vigorously and urged the youth to mobilise and reorganise themselves to elect a representative soon.
