14 November 2008

Lagos — Nigerian traders in Ghana operating under the umbrella of the Nigerian Union of Traders Association, Ghana (NUTAG) has congratulated the Edo state Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole , on his victory at the Appeal court and the restoration of his mandate.

The union also congratulated the people of Edo state, saying it is ready to support and work with the new government.

The union with its over 60,000 members scattered across Ghana pledged its support and loyalty to Oshiomhole whom it described as a man of confidence, courage and splendor.

A statement signed by Comrade Jasper Emenike, its Secretary-General , recalled "how we joined our good brothers in Edo state to observe the prayer and fasting recently declared in the State for peace and tranquility to prevail at the last lap of the electoral tribunal judgment," adding "We believe truly that our collective prayers have been answered."

NUTAG also praised the judiciary for availing itself and "summing up the courage and good conscience in the face of all odds, towards restoring the hope of the common man."

"By this decisive gallant step," the union said,"you have demonstrated that it is still possible to make Nigeria work again, all depending upon our choice."

While noting that Nigerians in diaspora and the world at large have acknowledged this feat, it advised the judiciary not to relent , saying "this is just the beginning of greater days to come towards restoring the glory and dignity of our one and only nation, the Federal Republic of Nigeria."

The traders also advised Oshiomhole to bear in mind that "this is just the beginning of a greater fight for truth, fairness and equal right and justice to all,at a greater height.," noting that "because you have continued to fight for the right of the common man all these years in the Labour Congress without blinking, this is why God has eventually fought for your right, and handed it over to you at the fullness of time."
