13 November 2008

Luanda — Luanda's provincial governor, Francisca do Espírito Santo, this Thursday said that her department is committed to building recreational and leisure multi-purpose fields for youths.

Speaking to the press after inaugurating two recreation sites, the governor, who is also a minister without portfolio, stated that the construction of these areas aims at fulfilling the government's commitment to the population, mainly concerning youths, for the practicing of sports, and to promote cultural and healthy sociability.

In her opinion, the fields will help in the structural and moral training of youths, as well as in implementing healthy activities.

The undertakings were built in Benfica commune, Samba district, and in "vila do Estoril", Kilamba Kiaxi district, by the "China Jiangsu" construction firm, and lasted for four months.

With 5,000 square metres each, the fields comprise stands for hundreds of spectators, leisure area, and public toilets, among others.

The works, under the aegis of the provincial department of Public Works, Urbanisation and Environment, cost over 205 million Angolan Kwanzas each.
