The minister of Health, José Van-Dúnem, this Thursday handed over 20 vehicles to the Trypanosomiasis Reference and Research Centre in Viana district, Luanda.
The trucks will be used to transport equipment, medicines, microscopes and others, as well as the personnel that need to travel in closed vehicles to avoid flies' bites during the journeys to affected areas.
According to the minister, the deed is part of the concerns regarding trypanosomiasis and aims at responding to the governance programme that sets priorities, such as the fight against big endemic diseases.
To achieve the established goals, referred the official, there is a need to enhance resources so that the circulating teams can detect diseases beforehand, enabling a greater probability of cure without consequences.
In this perspective, he added, in order to identify illnesses and be certain that they are being treated efficiently, it is essential to improve labour skills, and at the moment the sector is being committed to the construction of structures that allow isolating the parasite, as well as gathering resources for the circulating teams.
The government official revealed that the provinces with areas of difficult access are the northern part of Luanda, Bengo, Uíge, Zaire Kwanza Norte, Kwanza Sul and Malanje.
