Luanda — A Angolan top multi-sectoral delegation (oil, agriculture and parliament), will attend the International Conference on Biofuels set for next November 17- 21, in Sao Paulo State, in Brazil.
To be held under the motto "Fuels as Vectors for Sustainable Development", the conference aims at finding ways and mechanisms to develop, in a medium and long term, a biofuels industry capable of occupying a relevant place in the fuel market, currently dominated by oil by-products.
Angola will implement in the north-eastern Malanje province a biofuel project comprising a factory to produce sugar, alcohol and electric power, from sugarcane. This process will directly benefit the local population as it will provide several jobs opportunities to youths.
It is estimated that 35 million hectares of arable lands in Angola can be exploited for farming activity, a condition associated with the existence of a vast hydrographical system.
The biofuel industry enables the insertion of a high number of qualified and non-qualified manpower into the oil industry that demands high qualified personnel.
