Angola: Brazil Grants 144 Graduation Scholarships to Country

Luanda — At least 144 Angolans have been selected this year for graduation scholarships in Brazilian universities, in various specialities, announced Thursday here the Brazilian ambassador to Angola, Afonso Cardoso.

Speaking to the press after an audience granted to him by the Angolan Prime Minister, António Paulo Kassoma, the diplomat announced the opening of public tenders, in the coming six months, for new graduation and post-graduation scholarships in Brazil.

According to him, in other occasions, Brazilian universities offered scholarships in various fields of knowledge, promoting socialisation between Brazilian and Angolan students, as well as improving training focussed on international cooperation.

Afonso Cardoso spoke about programmes and sharing of experiences on methods and techniques of teaching people with special needs, and highlighted post-graduation public health courses being carried out in Angola with the support of his country.

He referred that Angola and Brazil are united by various elements based on culture, family ties, partnership and promotion of economic growth and the social development of the two countries.

After citing that trade exchange between both States were estimated at two billion dollars, the source explained that during the meeting the parties also discussed issues linked to the exemption of entry visas in each country.

Meanwhile, the embassy in Angola set a deadline of seven days to issue of visas for tourists, as well as reduced the number of required documents for this purpose.

The Brazilian ambassador added that the meeting also aimed at congratulating the Angolan prime minister on his nomination and to review the cooperation between both countries, which he considered as "very intense and rich".
