Angola: Transports Minister Appoints INAVIC's New Directors

Luanda — The minister of Transports, Augusto Tomás, on Wednesday appointed the new management board of the National Civil Aviation Institute (INAVIC), led by Gaspar Francisco dos Santos.

According to a press release delivered to ANGOP, Celso Rosas was appointed to the post of assistant director general of INAVIC.

In another dispatch, the Transports minister sacked António de Jesus Pombal, from the post of director general of INAVIC, and Gaspar dos Santos and José Machado Jorge, from the positions of assistant director generals, respectively, whilst Domigos Sebastião was dismissed as the State's representative at Ghassit firm.

On Wednesday, the cabinet council s analysed the reinforcement of INAVIC's framework with experienced technicians and the creation of an emergency plan to be co-ordinated by the technical commission for restructuring the transport sector.

The cabinet also recommended the recruiting of foreign experts to assist in the process of certifying operators and maintaining frequent contacts with similar institutions, as a result of the assessment of the current situation of INAVIC and air navigation infrastructures and airport services.

Other priorities of the institute concern the speeding up of the implementation of the remaining initiatives to regularise the sector, in agreement with the plan to restructure the country's air transportation sector, reads the press release.
