Warri — The Joint Military Task Force (JTF) on Thursday issued a warning to militants and their cohorts in the Niger Delta region, saying that it would respond with equal measure to any attack on any of its locations.
In statement entitled: "Enough Is Enough', the task force said any attack on any of its location or destruction of Federal Government assets or property of law abiding citizens would not just be resisted but its consequences would be grievous and disastrous on the attackers.
Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Rabe Abubakar, who signed the statement said:
"The JTF is by this release warning all militants and their cohorts to stop forthwith their unprovoked attacks and unpatriotic activities, as the JTF is prepared and ready more than ever before to respond to anybody or group that may attack its locations again.
"In recent times, JTF has been subjected to militant unprovoked attacks in most of its locations, where its men are protecting Federal Government economic assets and providing security.
"In each of these cases, the JTF refused to respond with the belief that attackers were our brothers and sisters.
Also, the negative effects such reactions from the JTF would bring on the innocent civilians around the scene of action made the outfit to sheath its sword and most importantly the ongoing government peace process."
Abubakar said the task force is not at war with anybody or group in the region, adding that their operations in the area are internal security operations, which should be carried out with minimum force in self-defence and at such they have been showing maturity and restraints as professionals and not as a sign of weakness.
