Kampala — THE National Social Security Fund has cancelled the bidding process for provision of design and development services for low cost housing in Temangalo, Wakiso district.
NSSF had earlier this year invited bidders to develop an estate of 5,000 housing units Temangalo land.
"This is to notify all bidders that this procurement process has been cancelled," the notice signed by NSSF managing director David Jamwa said.
The NSSF boss, however, did not give bidders reasons why the process had been cancelled. He promised potential bidders a fresh procurement process in the near future.
Jamwa could not be reached as he was reportedly in a meeting. Olive Lumonya, the NSSF deputy spokesperson said the notice was placed by their procurement section. "I am not in position to explain why the process was cancelled," Lumonya said before hanging up.
But sources said the process had been indefinitely suspended due to the controversy and debate the purchase of the land has generated.
