Rwanda: PSF to Organise Entrepreneurship Week

Kigali — Entrepreneurs showcase their products at one of the International Handcrafted Gift and Textile Expo's in the USA.

The Rwanda Private Sector Federation (PSF) is set to organise its own national entrepreneurship week in early December, an official has revealed.

Antoine Manzi, the PSF Director of Entrepreneurship and Business Growth said that Rwanda will organise its own event following their not being invited to the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Macedonia, which begins on Monday.

The event is an international celebration of enterprises, aimed at unleashing the creative ideas of young people across the globe.

It is also intended to involve entrepreneurs in solving society's problems such as poverty and climate change through economic development. Media reports indicate that this year's event has attracted over 75 countries.

Manzi said the PSF is working round the clock to finalise its preparations. He revealed that the organisation had earlier faced some logistical problems but they were sorted out this month.

Manzi also revealed that the PSF is in touch with those expected to attend the global event to share ideas. Just like the international event, the national entrepreneurship week will attract entrepreneurs, social activists, business leaders, youth, government ministers and policy-makers.

Manzi explained that participants will debate the role of enterprise in driving social change and economic prosperity across the globe.

In seven days of exchanging ideas, young people are expected to exhibit their creativity.

The 2008 global entrepreneurship week will be the fifth of its kind while the national event will be first in Rwanda.

Last year, Rwanda was invited and fully participated in the event.
