Nigeria: Apapa Club Set for Quadrangular Tennis Championship

The lawn tennis games section of the Apapa Club is set to dominate the forth-coming quadrangular games billed for this month just as the maiden Oando sponsored Men/Veteran singles got under way last week.

The Men/Veteran singles which is currently in its semi-final stage has about thirty-two (32) men competing against sixteen (16) Veterans trying to outdo each other so as to represent the Club at the Quadrangular games.

Speaking to Saturday Vanguard Sports at the Club, Mr Sola Balogun, games and sport secretary of the club said that the idea behind the tennis singles is to prepare the team of Apapa Club ahead of the quadrangular games.

"We want to use the competition to prepare our team for the quadrangular games to be hoisted by the Ikoyi club later this month" He added.

Also speaking on the championships, Mr Yemi Adelana, the tennis coach of the club, said that the team has been training for the last two weeks ahead of the games, adding that the team is very optimistic of winning the gold at the games.He disclosed that the Apapa Club was in the Finals last year.
