Luanda — An exhibition of books being dubbed "Tenda das Letras" (Tent of Knowledge), is open to the public since last Saturday in Soweto Square, in Luanda, with the objective of stimulating the liking for reading.
The event is being promoted by the National Institute of Books and Discs (INALD) and exhibitors are several bookshops and publishers.
The public can find on display books on school subjects, literature, mechanics, journalism and arts, among others.
Speaking to ANGOP, José Alberto Rangel, head of the Manuscritus publishers, considered INALD's initiative as very much welcome.
He revealed that the challenges of Angolan editors, for the coming times, is to make the price of books more affordable to citizens.
"This is only possible with major substance, with the urgent creation of the law on books and discs policy, since the costs in this field are very high" José Alberto Rangel explained.
To the director of INALD, António Fonseca, the "Tenda das Letras" exhibitions will continue to attract more and more the lovers of reading and promote an interaction with the writers.
Thus, he announced that next Saturday and Sunday the event will be taken to the municipalities of Rangel and Kilamba Kiaxi.
"Normally in the Tenda das letras exhibition booksellers and publishers are requested to reduce the price of items to 10 per cent to enable that a high number of people buy them" he assured.
