Lubango — The governor of southern Huila province, Isaac Maria dos Anjos, recently spoke of the need for the construction of one more dam on the Tchimpumpunhime river, to support farming activity at Humpata some 22 kilometres south of the provincial capital city, Lubango.
Isaac dos Anjos was speaking at a meeting with members of Humpata administration, during his second official visit to the district, since appointed provincial governor.
The governor considered as absolutely necessary the construction of the infrastructures concerned, taking into account that the Neves dam, currently working at the locality, does no longer meet the demands.
The official said that consumption of water in the region has considerably risen, as a result of private and state investments.
With a population estimated at 92,956 inhabitants, mainly peasants and cattle breeders, Humpata is one of the main producers of fruits of the province and rich in hydric resources.
