Luanda — The chairperson of the seventh commission of the National Assembly (parliament), Ana Maria de Oliveira, Friday here defended an urgent approval of the legislation on the protection of children's rights in the country.
The MP was speaking to ANGOP on the sidelines of the plenary session that discussed and approved, by majority, the government's national plan and state budget for the year 2009.
Ana Maria will lead a delegation that will attend from November 20 to 21, in New York City (USA), the International Conference on the Legislative Reform in favour of children.
She indicated the phenomenon of children accused of witchcraft as one of the concerns that deserves a legal resolution for the protection minors.
According to Ana Maria, the parliamentarian delegation to the event will attempt to report about the professionalism, projects and resolutions of the Angola government, in terms of child protection for their harmonious development.
According to the official, the initiative is part of the joint efforts made by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and its associates in order to promote and adopt a legislation and political framework adjusted to international regulations.
