Kampala — A Kampala businessman has sued Pastor Isaac Kiweweesi of Kansanga Miracle Centre for failure to pay for a generator he sold to him on credit.
Gastor Namunnungu of Buziga-Kirunda Zone 1 in Kampala wants sh15m, the balance on the sh25m Kiweweesi agreed to pay for the generator.
Namunnungu said Kiweweesi entered the deal in 2005 and through his church, made the first payment of sh10m, before taking away the equipment.
"He issued a cheque for sh5m but cancelled the payment without reason," Namunnungu told the court. He reportedly complained about the cancellation but Kiweweesi ignored him.
He said this was tantamount to breach of contract for which the pastor must be punished. He also wants the pastor to pay damages and the cost of the suit.
However, Kiweweesi has accused Namunnungu of supplying a defective generator and wants the court to order him to refund the money he deposited for it.
Namunnungu, however, says Kiweweesi had never complained of the alleged defects until he asked him for the balance.
The pastor has also been accused of sodomising his worker, Robert Arinaitwe. However, the pastor accused Arinaitwe, a member of his church, of stealing his car. He said Arinaitwe's claim was an attempt to divert attention from the theft.
