Uganda: Family Missing on Lake Victoria

Kampala — FOUR people, three of them from one family, went missing on Lake Victoria over the weekend.

The 3:00am incident involving a canoe loaded with timber, occurred at Nsanga between Koome Island and Ggaba landing site in Kampala.

According to the deputy Police spokesperson, Samson Lubega, the canoe encountered strong winds on its way to Ggaba, which blew it off course and eventually caused it to capsize.

The passengers were identified as Hajji Ali Nakibinge, 42, his wife, Amina, their four-month-old baby and Dennis Ssegujja, 30. Ssegujja was Nakibinge's employee.

The Police marine unit on Friday spent hours searching for their bodies.
