Uganda: UJL to Pick Ideas in Tour of South Africa

Kampala — UGANDA Junior League (UJL) will tour South African sports academies next month to learn how their counterparts conduct business in tapping and grooming talent.

UJL director Charles Sendagire said the kids' sports organisation officials and players would tour Amathole Academy, Johannesburg FC and Higher Performance Centre Academy to learn from their experiences.

"We have reached a point where we should learn from other academies from the region, to get the best out of our children. It will be good experience if the children themselves interact with their counterparts in the region," Sendagire said.

However, UJL needs sh49.5m for air tickets, feeding and accommodation to make the five-day trip starting on December 15.

The trip will also serve as part of their preparations for the Manchester Umbro International Cup in July next year.

Referee Saley Salmin aborted a first division match involving Kyerinda FC and Buwenda after realising that the former did not have licences for their players.

The zonal league committee is to sit and decide on the matter next week, which may be to award three points and two goals to Buwenda. Buwenda stands in eighth position on the league table with nine points.

At the same time, the Bugiri division one league is in a financial crisis and all referees have declined to officiate matches because of poor renumeration.

Anthoney Shishisha is the only available referee to handle all the are leaguegames.
