Arusha — Political strategists from the Democrat Party in America had realized that the American people now want change to enrich their lives. Americans want change such that their country becomes part of the international mainstream rather than the isolated Worlds Security Guard that it has become. The strategists manipulated the concept of diversity to express that the Democrat Party is better prepared to bring about the required change. Use of the concept of diversity as a vehicle for change during the election campaigns in America introduced an atmosphere of excitement that attracted even people who are not interested in politics.
First, the Democrat Party leadership considered the role of gender diversity as a vehicle for bringing about the required change in America. The leaders nominated Ms Hilary Clinton to contest for the post of American President during the recent primary elections that were held recently in that country. Some Americans have been quoted as saying, Hilary would perform better than Bill Clinton as president of America. No wonder she did so well against Obama during the primary elections. Meanwhile, Hilary Clinton goes into History books as the first woman to contest for the post of president of America.
The role of gender diversity in politics has been recognized and considered by politicians from the Republican Party during the American presidential campaigns as well. Strategists for the Party positioned Sarah Palin, a woman, as McCains running mate for the Vice President post at the White House.
On his part, Obamas background and personality are synonymous to diversity that introduced a sense of excitement in the American presidential elections in the real sense of the word. Obama is both Black and White since he is biologically a product of both black and white parents. Never mind if Obama is categorized as Black in America. It is just a judgment in that country whereby a biological product of a white and black person is considered to be black irrespective of the persons complexion of the skin.
Obama possesses other obvious aspects that symbolize diversity. He is an American of African origin. Such aspect of diversity expresses him as a symbol for change concerning negative racial attitudes in America and in the world. Americans have proved wrong those who had thought that they are not ready for a Black President.
The media picks other aspects of diversity that displays Obama as an appropriate agent for change in America. The media report that Obama is intelligent, informed as well as energetic. He will need those characteristics to perform effectively in one of the busiest offices in the world.
Diversity is exciting even in daily lives. Natural diversity excited a team of environment and development experts visiting Arusha recently. Before the excitement, members of the team were suffering from fatigue after traveling long distances. As a result, they were hopelessly silent as they traveled from Arusha to Ngarenanyuki Ward along the Arusha Nairobi Road. Then, about two hundred meters from Oldonyosambu ward market, members of the team broke the silence as they were absolutely excited by the rare diversity in nature whereby both Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru stood out clearly.
Clearly excited, the geographical information systems expert started to take a series of pictures of the mountains and sceneries all the way to Ngarenanyuki. The land use planner in the team explained why sunlight was still shining on Kilimanjaro Mountain although it was after sunset in the area. The ecologist explained how the ecological systems of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru are interrelated. He informed his colleagues in the team that a species of chameleon exists that is found on Mount Meru and nowhere else in the world. On his part, a water engineer explained that 80% of the people living in Arumeru District and Arusha City depend on water from the slopes of Mount Meru. The development specialist concluded the excitement. He emphasized that life would not be the same in Arusha without Mount Meru and that conservation of natural diversity or biodiversity to be precise is everything in life.
It shows that political diversity as in America and natural diversity as in Arusha in Tanzania can spark moments of excitement among people in many ways.
