Abeokuta — The Council of Nigerian Stock Exchange [NSE], will tomorrow in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, flag-off its branch of Electronic/Automated Trading Floor in the town.
Speaking to THISADAY, the coordinator of the project, who is also Managing Director of Gateway Holding Limited [GHL], Mr. Gboyega Isiaka, said the trading floor would be flagged off by the Director General of the NSE, Prof. Ndi Okereke-Onyuike.
He said the idea behind the citing of the trading floor in Abeokuta, was to complement the efforts of both the economic vision and the agenda of the present administration in the state.
According to Gboyega, "in the last 5-6 years, a lot has been done in the state in the area of, trying to invite the private sector to do various things, to set up various projects, various companies had come in on board, which to me is a demonstration of confidence in the economy of the state". He noted that the government was of the view, that the indigenes of the state should be given an opportunity to become more aware about the happenings in the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
The project coordinator, hinted that with the facility on ground, the people of the state would have more knowledge on what investment is all about, adding that investment could be started with little money.
Gboyega said that, "we still believe, and just like economists in Nigeria believe, that there are still lots of monies outside the Nigerian financial system, that this kind of facility can actually attract".
On pockets of alleged frauds, he told THISDAY that the NSE has succeeded in reducing the trend in the last couple of years, adding that people of dubious characters had been removed from the market.
