Tanzania: Arusha Wazee, Dar Afya Club Organise Free Medical Checkups

Arusha — Arusha Wazee Sports Club in collaboration with Dar es Salaam-based Afya Club, which brings together senior medical officer and practitioners, are organising a health promotion event in Arusha on Saturday 15 November 2008.

According to Wazee Club chairman, Danford Mpumilwa the senior doctors and medical practitioners from Dar es Salaam, about 30 of them, will on that Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. conduct free medical checkups to members of the Wazee Club and Arusha residents on a variety of diseases including hypertension and diabetics at the General Tyre Sports Grounds along Njiro road.

Mpumilwa has called upon all residents of Arusha who want to participate in the free medical check ups to register their names with the Wazee Club Secretary General Mr. Kingdom Mwanguku at tel.no.0784-4462788 or through e-mail 'arushawazee@gmail.com.'

The project, which is also sponsored by Vodacom Tanzania Ltd. is part of the two clubs' community service activities earmarked for Dar es Salaam and Arusha.

Later in the afternoon on the said Saturday the two sides will meet in a football match at the same General Tyre Sports Grounds. Members of the public are welcome to this special treat.
