The National High School Students Union of Liberia (NAHISSU) has observed with dismay the continuous delay of the second autopsy report for the late Little Angel Togba which cost the government has underwritten.
The student group is calling on Liberia's Justice Minister Cllr. Philip A. Z. Banks to immediately give reasons about the delay of the second autopsy report conducted on the body of little Angel Togba in court.
It can be recalled that the government of Liberia allotted US$20,000 and the amount was given to the Justice Ministry to conduct the second autopsy on the body of Little Angel Togba who was allegedly raped by her adopted parent, Hans Williams.
According to a press release from the offices of the National High School Students Union of Liberia in Monrovia yesterday, they said that the delay of the autopsy report indicates that the US$20,000 received by the Justice Minister Philip A. Z. Banks was never used for that purpose.
The release called on the General Auditing Commission to launch an audit of Minister Banks for the alleged misapplication of the money which was collected from tax payers.
The NAHISSUL authorities further stated that the failure of Liberia's Attorney General to present the second autopsy to court has created delay and has cast dark clouds over the prosecution of defendant Hans Williams. "We all know very well in our Liberian setting that justice delayed is justice denied," the release added.
The National High School Students Union of Liberia is calling on the President, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to speedily intervene in the matter and try her possible best in bringing the situation under control.
The group is calling on her to use her influence to contact her international partners to assist in conducting DNA analysis from the blood sample of each person associated with the actual cause of the death of Angel Togba.
The group then threatened to stage a major demonstration if Cllr. Banks continue to circumvent the path which is contrary to moving the case forward. "We will not hesitate to stage a major demonstration if Cllr. Philip Banks does not heed to our concerns, "the release concluded.
