Ghana: Appiah Wants Win for Confidence

17 November 2008

Stephen Appiah says the Black Stars must win against Tunisia to boost confidence in the side ahead of the resumption of 2010 World Cup qualifiers and also shoot up in the FIFA world ranking.

The Black Stars have fallen to 26th on the world ranking after losing to South Africa in an international friendly but Appiah says the Stars must return to winning ways as soon as possible.

"It may be just a friendly match but it will be an important one," he told KickOffGhana.com.

"We need a win because it will be important for not just our confidence but our rankings in FIFA too."

The Tunisia friendly is a rarity given that the Black Stars have in the past almost always travelled outside for international games.

Appiah says it's important that local fans get a feel of the team as much as they can.
