Abuja — Governor of Sokoto State Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has congrulated the new editor of LEADERSHIP, Mr. Abdulrazaque Bello Barkindo on his appointment.

In a letter to the editor signed by the governor, he described the role of a newspaper as "stimulating development, guiding leaders especially in the case of a young democracy such as Nigeria's, aiding and nurturing the nation's nascent democracy."

Wamakko described the choice of Barkindo as one well made, stressing that "it is because of the outstanding professional qualities in him that he has been appointed to pilot the editorial affairs of a vibrant newspaper organisation, such as LEADERSHIP, which is aimed at taking the newspaper to the next level.

In the words of the governor, "It is no doubt challenging, but for those of us in Sokoto State, where you once worked as a correspondent, who have been following the course of your career ever since, your choice as the editor of the LEADERSHIP Newspapers Group was one that was well made." He therefore prayed God to guide him as he continues his enviable service to humanity and the country.
