The Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Maje, has called on state government to set up an agency to cater for the physically-challenged persons in the state.
Maje made the call yesterday in Hadejia when members of the state social security disbursement committee paid him an advocacy visit in his palace.
He said that when established, the agency would assist in reducing the rising cases of street begging.
The emir urged group leaders of the physically- challenged to assist the government in its effort to rid the streets of beggars.
Maje gave the assurance of the emirate to assist the committee in all its programmes.
Earlier, chairman of the committee, Alhaji Bala Musa, told the Emir that they were in his palace to seek advice on ways to address the issue of street begging by physically-challenged persons in the state. (NAN)
